How Grooms Spend the Morning of Their Wedding

Grooms Spend

Most brides spend the morning of their wedding hanging out with their bridesmaids, sipping coffee or mimosas, and getting pampered and glam prior to their walk down the aisle. But what about the guys? How do grooms spend the morning of their wedding? After all, most don’t take nearly as long to get ready, and are left with quite a bit of time on their hands.

To find out, Brides asked real grooms how they spent the hours before their ceremony. From last-minute errands to cocktails and everything in between, here’s how grooms spend the morning of their wedding.

“I woke up, showered, shaved. Then ordered room service and watched TV until I realized I lost my tie, so a few of us had to run out to the nearest mall to get a new one. Then we came back and I wrote my vows on a piece of a notebook paper.” —Scott, 32 [Read more…] about How Grooms Spend the Morning of Their Wedding

Wedding Etiquette: What Should the Groomsmen Expect to Pay For?

Groomsmen

Between paying for everything from the pre-wedding parties to wedding-day clothing, being a member of a pal’s bridal party can be costly. And it’s not just bridesmaids who shell out the big bucks—groomsmen also are expected to pay up. But just how much that is in dollar amounts depends on a few factors, like the formality of the wedding, where you live in relation to the wedding venue, and how elaborate the bachelor party is. Here’s what a groomsman can expect to pay for.

The Tuxedo Rental

If the wedding is formal, you’ll probably be renting a tux. That will cost an average of $135, according to Savvi Formalwear, a national network of independent wedding formalwear specialists. If you go the designer route, it’s closer to $200. You’ll have to shell out more money if accessories like shoes and cufflinks are not included in the price. If you’re lucky enough to own your own tux or if the dress code is more casual, and an outfit you already have in your closet fits the bill, your cost to dress up for the wedding is an enviable zero.

The Bachelor Party

This men-only mainstay could be as simple (meaning, affordable) as a couple of six-packs and video games at the best man’s house one night or as elaborate (meaning, expensive) as a four-day weekend in Cabo. Not interested in either option? There’s also the ever-popular night out in town. Prices vary widely, so expected to pay anywhere from a few bucks to hundreds. Whatever you do, make sure the majority of groomsmen is onboard with the plan before inviting others.

The Wedding Gift

The final expense is the wedding gift, and you can either pick something off the couple’s registry or give cash. And no, you don’t have a year to hand it over—that’s a weird wedding fallacy that’s been kicking around for decades. Give them your gift before the wedding or after the honeymoon.

The Return of Cool…Tuxedos

February 10, 2018 by aaadmin Leave a Comment

As with all trends they eventually circle back to the classics. Menswear for 2018 is no exception. This year brides and grooms are turning away from the trendier styles of the past and upgrading (in our humble opinion) to a more timeless silhouette.

The classic tuxedo has fully made its comeback in bridal, but it doesn’t mean that there’s just one style for men. Within the world of formal wear there are many silhouettes and ways to differentiate yourself from all the other guys in “penguin suits.” We want to make sure our Ashley & Alexandria’s clients know their options. Below are different areas where men can stylize their looks and really stand out on their big day and at other important events.

Style: Black or white jacket? Peaked or shawl collar? Grosgrain or satin lapels? Still think all tuxedos are the same? Well, that’s not quite the case. Even though you’re wearing a classic tuxedo, there are many ways to pick a look that is tailored to the formality and tone of your event. These subtle changes add up to a look that can accentuate specific aspects of the grooms personal style.

Tuxedo

That’s Really Cool

Bow Ties: While opting for a crisp satin black bow tie is certainly a classic option, you and your groomsmen can look stylish and unique by spicing it up with color. You can also experiment with new materials including wood and feathers!

Tuxedo

Socks: This trend is going nowhere and we’re happy to see it stick around. Colorful and coordinated “sockwear” is a great way for the groomsmen to highlight their look, without the guests even knowing. Bonus points for grooms who attempt this. The photos of all the groomsmen with their socks is becoming one of our favorites!

There are many ways to stand out with style at your wedding. Stop by Ashley & Alexandria’s today to check out our selection of men’s tuxedos by Rondinelli and Dunhill!
