While most of us go shopping to a mall or a small boutique, seldom have we experienced personal service. I remember years ago when my mom took me shopping at what was then Hudson’s department store. We were there in downtown Detroit, to purchase my first pair of Mary Jane black patent leather shoes. I remember the experience well. The door man opening the door, an elevator operator, who announced the floors with the most genteel demeanor as well as, the personal service we received from sales associates who appeared to love and appreciated their jobs; sales associates who knew their services and proudly delivered quality customer service. I remember wearing one of my favorite dresses with white gloves and having lunch in what, I believe was the mezzanine. It was such a great experience. I remember the feeling of going somewhere special and enjoying those moments with my mom.Personal service should be included as Forty years later I can still remember the feeling and recall the experience with such happiness.
